Introduction to Digital Outcrop Interpretation with VRGS

Thursday, 14 March 2024 14:00 - 16:00 GMT

Introduction to VRGS Workshop

Introduction to VRGS Workshop

This workshop provided newcomers with the tools and knowledge to interpret and analyse digital outcrop data efficiently and accurately. Dr David Hodgetts (BSc, MSc, PhD, FGS), the founder of VRGeoscience Limited and creator of VRGS, guided attendees through loading data, basic interpretation, and exporting results.

2024 Geology and Planetary Mapping Winter School

22-26 January 2024

https://www.planetarymapping.eu/

Our involvement was on day 5 with a workshop presented by David Hodgetts VRGeoscience Limited, and Matteo Massironi from University of Padua (Università degli Studi di Padova) on the mapping of small celestial bodies, such as Phobos and Comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko.

This workshop underscored the versatility and efficacy of digital outcrop modelling techniques, illustrating their potential to address a diverse range of challenges within the field of planetary science. We extend our thanks to the organising committee for including VRGeoscience in this event. This experience not only allowed us to showcase the capabilities of VRGS but also provided a platform for meaningful collaboration and learning among scientists from various disciplines

The Geological Society Energy Group, Stratigraphy in Modern Geoscience: methodologies, application and future relevance conference

23 January 2024

https://www.geolsoc.org.uk/01-EG-Stratigraphy-in-Modern-Geoscience

David Hodgetts speaking @ 13:50 on "The Unfulfilled Potential of Digital Outcrop Data in Stratigraphy"

The conference was a deep dive into the latest trends and innovations shaping our understanding of stratigraphy. The intersection of cutting-edge technology and traditional geoscience leads us towards a future where research, natural resource management and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. Topics covered included biostratigraphy, evolutionary biology, geomodelling, forward modelling, chemostratigraphy, machinel earning and AI, and (of course) digital outcrop modelling.

The abstract volume is now available on The Geological Society website: Abstract book - Modern Stratigraphy - Final.pdf (geolsoc.org.uk)

The Geological Society conference 'Digital Geoscience: Unleashing the Power of Data and Technology in Earth Sciences'

13 - 14 November 2023

David Hodgetts gave a talk on "Unlocking the Full Potential of Digital Outcrop Models Through Integrated Quantitative and Spatial Analyses".

This event was a hub of inspiration, featuring brilliant talks that showcased the latest innovations in digital geoscience. The conference provided invaluable insights into the power of data and technology in Earth Science, aligning perfectly with our commitment at VRGeoscience Limited to advance the field through cutting-edge software and tools. We’re excited to incorporate fresh perspectives from the conference into our work, continuing to push the boundaries of digital geoscience. Congratulations to the conference organisers for such a successful and influential event.
